1st July Tabcorp Park Melton : Paul Rowse holds a share in Bannockburn duo Emmett and Richard Brosnan’s 4Y0 American Ideal-Diamonds N Gold gelding Yankee Gold who was ultra impressive in taking the 1720 metre Melton Toyota Pace. Driven by Emmett, Yankee Gold went forward from gate six to cross polemarker Illawong Astro on the first turn and always looked the one to beat. Joined by the heavily supported favourite Arabella Star from last at the bell, the pair drew away to fight out the finish with Yankee Gold easily defying the challenge to score by 1.4 metres in a mile rate of 1-56.2. Illawong Astro held down third 3.9 metres away.

 

4th July Tabcorp Park Melton: Peter Svanosio and partners scored another victory with 4Y0 Orlando Vici-Bohemian Queen gelding Brandlo Prince who was successful in the Aldebaran Park Trotters Mobile over 2240 metres in a rate of 1-59.3. Trained and driven by son Chris at Romsey, Brandlo Prince from the pole led throughout and after being rated to perfection was never going to lose, greeting the judge by 3.3 metres in advance of Sassy Pants off a three wide trail last lap from mid-field, with Kyvalley Clichy (one/two) third a neck away after being held up approaching the home turn.

 

4th July Tabcorp Park Melton: Bob Willis also shared in a winner when 5Y0 American Ideal-Lifes Just Magic gelding Idealsomemagic snared the Allied Express Pace over 2250 metres. Trained in the Ballan area by AJ and Beau Tindale, Idealsomemagic taking a concession for Gordon’s Darby McGuigan came from five back in the moving line at the bell with a long sustained run to defeat Freddy Funk (one/three) by a half neck in a slick 1-55.2. Smart Little Shard was 3.3 metres back in third place after leading.

 

8th July Stawell: Melbourne owner Merv Butterworth recorded a double with Duty Bound (Grant Campbell T/D) taking the Warren Earthworks Pace over 2180 metres and The Bull Pen (Kerryn Manning T/D) the Renown Silverware Pace over 1785 metres. Duty Bound a 4Y0 Mach Three-Well Hereshoping gelding was restrained to the rear of the field from gate five as Seeking Thoughts speared across the field to lead after starting outside the front line. Going forward four wide in the last lap to join the pacemaker on the final bend, Duty Bound was much to strong over the concluding stages to register a 4.5 metre margin over Seeking Thoughts in 1-59.2. Beekeacee was third 15.1 metres away after racing parked. The Bull Pen showed his usual gate speed to lead throughout from outside the front row, greeting the judge by 1.4 metres from Rocking Tess which trailed from gate two, with Marjorie Jean third after following the pair from the pole. The mile rate 1-56.9.

 

8th July Bendigo: Fred Crews was successful with lightly raced home bred 5Y0 Majestic Son-Happy Maori mare Maori About Time in the Simonds Homes Maiden Trotters Mobile over 2150 metres. Trained and driven by Chris Lang,  Maori About Time starting from gate five began swiftly to lead from Princess Faith drawn inside her and after being rated a treat, greeted the judge 3.2 metres clear of Princess Faith which tried hard, with Yankee Twister (one/two last lap – four wide home turn) running another nice race for third 1.3 metres back. The mile rate 2-03.7.

 

8th July Bendigo: Bruce Morgan combined with local  reinsman Tony Vlaeminck to land a training double – Sweet Lou-Im Tammy filly Sweet Appeal taking the JL King & Co 3Y0 Maiden Pace over 1650 metres and Four Starzzz Shark-Ruby Slippers filly Polly Peachum the 2150 metre Bendigo Party Hire 3Y0 Pace. Sweet Appeal led out from the pole before allowing Heavenly Blue outside her to cross at the bell. Easing into the clear on the final bend, Sweet Appeal ran home best to prevail by a half neck over the leader, with first starter Eva Mateo (one/one at bell) third 5.8 metres away with Peter Manning having a rare race drive. The mile rate 1-59.1. Polly Peachum part-owned by Bruce began with her usual zest from gate three to lead throughout, just lasting by a head from Esterna from last in a rate of 2-02.1. La La Bron was third 2.4 metres back after racing uncovered from the bell.

 

11th July Bendigo: Merv Butterworth’s smart McArdle-Trevi Bromac 4Y0 gelding Steam Punk resumed from a short let up to land the 1650 metre Garrards Horse & Hound Pace in a slick 1-53.6 rate. Trained and driven by Kerryn Manning, Steam Punk from the pole enjoyed a sweet passage training the hard pulling leader Obi One (gate five) until easing to the outside on the final bend. Finishing best, Steam Punk scored by 8.1 metres from Streitkid which followed him throughout, with Enchanted Stride (one/two} running on late for third a metre back.

 

13th July Bendigo: Arcadia trainer Patrick Ryan’s Love You-Right Interest gelding Sweet On You was a big winner of the 2150 metre Yabby Dam Racing 2Y0 Trotters Handicap much to the delight of Sheron Park principal Kevin Riseley. With Chris Alford in the sulky, Sweet On You began like an old stager from the pole to lead easily with Illawong Moonbeam (10m) stepping swiftly to immediately trail him. Allowed to bowl, Sweet On You opened up a huge margin on his rivals in the last lap to greet the judge by 95.3 metres in a rate of 2-04.1 from Illawong Moonbeam, with Sheza Pleasure producing another eye catching run for third 5.8 metres away after losing many yards when going off stride shortly after the start.

 

13th July Bendigo: Muscle Hill-Solar Powered filly Aldebaran Tess raced by Duncan McPherson’s Aldebaran Lodge Pty Ltd trained by Mattie Craven and driven by Sofia Arvidsson, led throughout from gate two in the Best Accounting & Audit Trotters Mobile over 2150 metres, easily accounting for Van Sank off a three wide trail by a huge 26.2 metre margin in a rate of 2-02.1. Double Helix (five back the markers) after a bad beginning ran on late for third 1.7 metres away.

 

15th July Stawell:  Merv Butterworth’s 7Y0 Tintin In America - One Ali gelding The Bull Pen trained and driven by Kerry Manning was successful in the 2189 metre Renown Silverware Pace. Beginning brilliantly from gate five, The Bull Pen led throughout, reaching the wire 3.2 metres in advance of Rockin Tess (three back the markers) and Onthecrestofawave (one/two) who was 2.5 metres back. The mile rate 1-58.2.

 

23rd July Ballarat: The 2200 metre Radio Ballarat Trotters Mobile went the way of Duncan McPherson’s Aldebaran Tess in a rate of 2-01.1. Trained by Mattie Craven and driven by Sofia Arvidsson, the filly was slow to begin from gate four doing her fair share of work three wide to assume control from The Girls Got Flair with just under a mile to travel. Rated to perfection, Aldebaran Tess scored by 3.8 metres in advance of The Girls Got Flair, with Hanging On A Dream (three back the markers – three wide home turn) third 2.8 metres away.

 

25th July Shepparton: Kevin Riseley’s smart 3Y0 Quaker Jet-Win Winnie Win gelding Cracker Jet greeted the judge in the Cottrell Electrical Trotters Mobile over 2190 metres. Given a sweet passage by Chris Alford three back in the moving line after starting inside the second row, Cracker Jet trained by Patrick Ryan ran home strongly to record a 3.7 metre margin in 2-02.2 from Whizzbang Dan which led for the last half of the journey, with Count Bacardi third 1.5 metres back after racing exposed from the bell.

 

25th July Shepparton: Butterworth’s in-form pair Rupert Of Lincoln and Yankee Lincoln trained by Kerryn Manning ran the quinella in the 2190 metre Barastoc Pace. Driven by Greg Sugars as Kerryn was on the suspended list and Grant was aboard Yankee Lincoln which led from gate four, Rupert Of Lincoln a 4Y0 gelded son of Lincoln Royal and Crush settled three back along the markers from inside second line sprouting wins in the straight to charge along the sprint lane and score by 1.3 metres, with Miss Hartley third after trailing the runner up. The mile rate 1-59.4.
