OCTOBER 1 : KILMORE

Aldebaran Alissa, a daughter of Muscle Hill and Triple A raced by Duncan McPherson’s Aldebaran Lodge Pty Ltd, Peter Svanosio and Elizabeth MacLean, trained at Romsey by Chris Svanosio and driven the stable’s Michelle Phillips led all of the way from gate four to land the 2180 metre Kilmore Trackside 3Y0 Trotters Mobile but not the way punters would have preferred as Aldebaran Alissa ($53.10) defeated her stablemate and hot favourite Im Daddy Warbucks ($1.30) in a rate of 2-04.5, reaching the wire a half neck clear of Im Daddy Warbucks which raced exposed from the bell, with Floating Mountain 4.3 metres away in third place after trailing the winner and using the sprint lane.


John Dorrington who is very passionate about his harness racing and has raced many handy horses over the years was victorious with promising Sweet Lou-Artistic Dancer filly Sweet Louise the winner of the Buds & Branches 3Y0 Pace over 2180 metres. Trained at Bacchus Marsh by Philip Chircop, Sweet Louise racing under the banner of Dorro Downs Pty. Ltd. making only her fifth race appearance and second since February, starting solo off the second line followed through to possie one/one as the well fancied Itsebonynivory was trapped three wide from outside the front row before working extremely hard to assume control in the back straight on the first occasion. Once the pace slackened reinsman Greg Sugars allowed Sweet Louise to stride forward and park outside the leader and dictate the race tempo for the final circuit. With the two favourites clearing right away from their rivals prior to the home turn, Sweet Louise was tenacious on turning and raced clear over the concluding stages to record a strong 2.5 metre margin over Itsebonynivory in a mile rate of 1-59.8 (last half 56.4 – quarter 28.4). Atlantas which dropped to the back of the leader was third 26.3 metres away.

OCTOBER 3 : TABCORP PARK MELTON

Greg Bettiol’s 5Y0 Art Major-Princess Cassi gelding Major Assassin greeted the judge in the Australian Pacing Gold Pace over 2240 metres. Trained and driven by Grant Campbell, Major Assassin (gate three) led throughout to reach the wire a neck clear of Letsrocknroll (one/two – three wide last lap) in 1-57.4. Messerati was third a nose away after using the sprint lane from three back the markers.


John Hawke received the thrill of a lifetime when his 5Y0 Bettors Delight-Reklaw gelding Rishi scored in the $50,000 (Group 2) Smoken Up Sprint over 1720 metres. Trained by Lance Justice and driven by Michael Bellman, Rishi at tote odds of $120-10, came from last at the bell to make the final bend four wide, before rattling home at 100 miles an hour to register a neck margin over Major Times (one/one last lap) and Code Black (three back the markers) who was 7.7 metres back in third place. The mile rate a stunning 1-50.2 (last half 55.1 – quarter 27.8) in a career best performance.

OCTOBER 7 : HORSHAM

Merv and Meg Butterworth were victorious with their Grant Campbell trained and driven ex-Kiwi 4Y0 Mach Three-Well Hereshoping gelding Duty Bound who landed the HRV - $11,000 For PCFA Pace over 1700 metres in a rate of 1-57.6. Restrained from gate six to settle three back in the moving line, Duty Bound followed Ghanasuya three wide ahead of him forward approaching the final bend and finished with a wet sail to blouse him by a half neck. Beneath The Shadow came from last to be third 1.2 metres back.

OCTOBER 16 : BALLARAT

Duncan McPherson’s Aldebaran Lodge and a host of co-owners snared the 3Y0 Flying Horse Entertainmant Venue Trotters Mobile at Ballarat on Friday with Dream Vacation-Chiola Belle filly Aldebaran Belle. Trained by Anne-Maree and driven by brother Glenn, Aldebaran Belle was given a lovely passagr from gate three trailing the leader Itsallover which began brilliantly from outsise the front line to lead. Easing away from the inside on turning, Aldebaran Belle ran home nicely to just get there by a head from first start Meydan (one/two – three wide last lap) in a mile rate of 2-01.8. Itsallandover held third 6.5 metres back.

OCTOBER 17 : TABCORP PARK MELTON

Peter Svanosio and partners have had a terrific run with 4Y0 Orlando Vici-Bohemian Queen gelding Brandlo Prince who notched up his 10th success (seven for the syndicate) by taking the 2240 metre IRT Australia Trotterrs Mobile. Driven by Michelle Phillips for trainer Romsey based Chris Svanosio, Brandlo Prince raced exposed throughout from gate five to outstay his rivals, accounting for Kyvalley Chief along the sprint lane after trailing the leader and third placegetter Swiss Miss. The margins 2.4 metres by a head in 1-58.9.

OCTOBER 18 : CRANBOURNE

Robert Blance, Bill Hutchison, Rob Molloy and partners were victorious with 3Y0 Bacardi Lindy-Redneck gelding Sccotin Around in the Aldebaran Park Trotters Mobile over 2080 metres. Trained by Dylan Stratford based at the training centre on course, Scootin Around driven by Zac Phillips and starting from outside the front line was restrained at the start to settle well back in the field, before going forward with a rush to join the leader Hades Sky prior to the bell. Angling to the back of the pacemaker when the lead was unavailable, Scooting Around enjoyed a sweet trip for the rest of the journey. Using the sprint lane, Scootin Around bloused his death-seating last lap stablemate Goober by a half head. Hades Sky held down third 4.5 metres back. The mile rate 2-04.6.

OCTOBER 26 : SHEPPARTON

John Yeomans’ 3Y0 Art Major-Salix filly Theultimate returned to the winners list after winning the 2190 metre Vicbred Pace. Driven by Chris Alford, Theultimate went forward from gate five to head off the leader Hayjoshandco on the first turn and was always travelling comfortably. Given her head on turning, Theultimate scored easily by 7 metres from Tarzali (mid-field on the markers), with Saving Major Percy (three back the markers) third 2.1 metres away. The mile rate Two minutes even.


Kevin Riseley’s Somebeachsomewhere-Maid For You filly Starsbythebeach was a big victor of the Cottrells Electrical Vicbred Pace over 2190 metres. Trained locally by Patrick Ryan, and driven by Chris Alford positioned Starsbythebeach back in the field from the extreme draw before going forward three wide in the last lap and with luck going her way, was able to drop into the one/one spot prior to the home turn for a short breather on the back of Diamond Party which raced parked from the bell. Taken wide on the final bend, Starsbythebeach dashed away on turning to score by 13.8 metres in a rate of 1-58, accounting for Diamond Party which led on turning, with Sheza Runny third 5.7 metres away after leading out, then taking a trail on Ma Katie.

OCTOBER 27: CRANBOURNE

Robert Blanche, Bill Hutchison, Rob Molloy and partners’ 3Y0 Bacardi Lindy-Redneck gelding Scootin Around added another victory to his CV when taking the Aldebaran Park Trotters Mobile over 2080 metres in a mile rate of 2-04.6. Driven by Zac Phillips for local trainer Dylan Stratford, Scootin Around starting from outside the front line was restrained at the start to settle well back in the field, before going forward with a rush to join the leader Hades Sky prior to the bell. Angling to the back of the pacemaker when the lead was unavailable, Scooting Around enjoyed a sweet trip for the rest of the journey, before using the sprint lane to blouse his death-seating stablemate Goober by a half head, with Hades Sky holding down third.

OCTOBER 28 : BENDIGO

It was a huge two days for the Hutchison, Molloy and Murdoch trio as their Kiwi import Majestic Mannequin, a 5Y0 daughter of Majestic Son-Tatsy Scott registered her first victory in Oz when successful in the 2150 metre Aldebaran Park Trotters Mobile. Trained by Andy Gath and driven by wife Kate, Majestic Mannequin starting from gate two on the second line positioned three back in the moving line as Everybodylovesme circled the field from the extreme draw to assume control. Going forward three wide in the approach to the final bend, Majestic Mannequin was too strong by a head at the finish for Lexington Queen which followed her throughout, with Gooroc Gambler (one/one) third 10.4 metres away. The mile rate 2-00.2.

OCTOBER 28 : TABCORP PARK MELTON

John Yeomans’ bonny American Ideal-The Dream Time filly Its Ebonynivory returned to the winners list when leading throughout from gate four to land the Empire Stallions 3Y0 Pace. Driven by Chris Alford. Its Ebonynivory traveled beautifully at the head of affairs and kicked clear on straightening to account for Rockingwithsierra (one/two) which flashed late by a half neck in 1-55.7. Amalfi Coast (three back the markers) was third 2.5 metres back.
