Born in Hobart, Bob McArdle migrated to New Zealand at age 21 and became a thoroughbred and show horse agent, selling bloodstock to all corners of the world.  

 

 During a trip to the USA around the time of Cardigan Bay’s US successes of the 60’s prompted a move into the standardbred market with spectacular results.

 

 Joining with Wayne Francis in the early 70’s they formed Nevele R Stud and developed it into the foremost standardbred farm in Australasia, revolutionising the breeding industry by importing sires of exceptional pedigree and racetrack performance.
