Kerryn Manning

2019 Inductee

  Born in Melbourne in 1976, Kerryn left school after year ten to work with Caduceus Club Legend father Peter Manning in Great Western, Victoria. At 16 she drove her first winner on Gorgeous Gambit at Ararat in May 1993 and quickly followed up then next night at Mildura on half-sister Gambit Girl in a race for women only. A year later Kerryn joined a select band, winning on talented youngster Scotty Wiper at her first metropolitan drive.

 

 As a teenager Kerryn purchased Allbenz for $500 as a weanling and after refusing a $45,000 offer, she recorded her first big success 5 months later, winning the Tatlow final to take his earnings to over $100,000.

 After winning the 1997Australasian Trotters Championship on Knight Pistol, Kerryn took on the world when travelling to Scandinavia to win the Group One Harley Davidson Trot in Norway. During that season she passed the century for the first time with 126 winners. Kerryn was a prolific winner in following years with her best ever, a record 371 victories in 2003 and again eclipsing the 300 mark in 2004 & 2005. In fact during the 2000-2005 periods Kerryn won 5 Metro & State Drivers Premierships & 5 time leading driver in Australia.

 Kerryn has won nearly every major race in Australia and driven many great horses including Lombo Rapida, Sky Strike, Emmas Only, La Coocaracha, and Our Golden Goddess to name a few. In 2015 Kerryn won the AG Hunter Cup with Arden Rooney and then followed that up by winning the NZ Cup creating history by becoming the 1st female to do so. 

 In 2001 Kerryn was awarded the Pearl Kelly Award, she was inducted into the VHRMA Hall in 2012 and then in 2014 became a Gordon Rothacker Medalist. Now the world’s winningest female driver or jockey of both horse codes and in sight of the 4000 winners mark, we salute Kerryn Manning as the Clubs first female Legend.
