April Winning Post

1st April: Georgina Coram started the month off as the owner/breeder of Warragul winner My Forgotten Hero who snared the Drouin Signs & Digital Printing Pace for C0 class over 1790 metres proving he was no April fool. The 5YO Major In Art - Scarlet Lilly gelding trained and driven by Simone Walker, led all of the way from the pole. Despite several challengers, My Forgotten Hero fought on like a caged lion to gain the day by a half neck over The Neptune Kid and My Two Eves in 1-59.5 and in doing so, chalked up his first success in 21 outings

2nd April: Sam Godino was a winner at Wedderburn when 4Y0 Shadow Play - Godine Indulgent gelding Whos Your Buddy with Zac Phillips driving for trainer Tony Xiriha snared the Watson Paterson Memorial Pace for C0 class over 2150 metres. Leading out from the pole, Whos Your Buddy was never headed, scoring by 1.3 metres from perennial placegetter Sondel which trailed, with Threepeat a a head away third after racing exposed. The mile rate 2-02.1.

7th April: Kevin Riseley’s smart Art Major-Nosotros 4Y0 entire Stars Align raced by him and several colleagues, was a dominant victor of the 2240 metre M1 & M2 TAB Multiplier Pace at harness headquarters Tabcorp Park Melton on April 7 in a mile rate of 1-56.. Trained by Dean Braun at Lara, Stars Align taking a concession for Kima Frenning led throughout from the pole, cruising to a 11.1 metre margin ahead of Hoo Nien (one/one) and He Can Fly which raced in the open.

Stars Align was to win again at Melton on April 27th, taking the 1720 metre Schweppes Pace for M2 & M3 class. With Kima Frenning in the sulky taking a lift, Stars Align led all the way from gate four, accounting for Carload which trailed by 8.4 metres and Ideal Majority (three back the markers) who was a head back in third place. The mile rate 1-53.1

20th April: April certainly belonged to Kevin Riseley after his quality Mach Three - Three Eagles colt Higherthananeagle trained at Avenel by David Aiken scored in the Schweppes Pace for C0 class over 1650 metres at Bendigo and followed up with an easy success in the 1690 metre Inspired Architectural Windows & Doors Pace at Shepparton on April 28th, Higherthananeagle

13th April:Rob Molloy shared in a winner at Hamilton when 5Y0 Washinton VC - Ace’s Win gelding All Jokers Todahright trained and driven by Terang’s Mattie Craven led most of the way in the Country Fire Brigade Re3cognition Pace for C2 & C3 class over 2160 metres. Always in control, All Jokers Todahright scored easily, 14.1 metres in advance of The Big Show and Tommaso in a 1-59.3 rate.

Greg Bettiol has a handy type in home bred Grinfromeartoear - Adams Sister gelding Grinning Assassin who also saluted the judge at Hamilton on debut in the 1660 metre Victorian Emergency Alerts Recognition 3Y0 Pace.Trained by Grant Campbell and driven by wife Kerryn Manning, Grinning Assassin ran home well off a one/one trip from gate three to defeat Iam Erik (three back the markers) by 1.7 metres and Corzin Change which led in 1-58.

18th April: Stan Nedwell was highly delighted when beautifully bred Shadow Play - Lucky Bonus gelding Bonus Play impressively captured the Sportsman’s Association 3Y0 Pace over 1710 metres at Bray Raceway Ballarat when making his race debut. Trained at Junortoun by club member Bruce Morgan, Bonus Play raced in partnership with Diedre Nedwell and Val Morgan settled four back in the moving line from gate two on the second line as Forte Courage led from gate two. Easing three wide in the back straight on the final occasion, Bonus Play sprinted brilliantly to lead on the home turn, treating his rivals with content to register a 27.4 metre margin over Princely Reign which trailed the front runner after leading out, with Delwyns Son third after racing exposed for the last lap. The mile rate 1-56.1.

23rd April: John Dorrington’s home bred Artistic Fella - Calories gelding Artful Jinks trained at Bacchus Marsh by Phil Chircop and driven by Craig Demmler scored in the McIvor Estate 3Y0 Pace over 1690 metres at Kilmore. Beginning speedily from gate five to dictate terms, Artful Jinks defied all challengers to register a 1.4 metre victory over the hot favourite Winning Spirit which trailed using the sprint lane to no avail in a rate of 1-59.3

24th April: Georgie Coram’s highly promising home bred Majestic Son - Annika gelding Lunchwitharthur was a brilliant victor of the 2300 metre 3YO Trotters Foundation Series (Heat 3) at Menangle. Trained and driven by Euroa based Cameron Maggs, Lunchwitharthur was slowly away from outside the front line, giving the leaders a tidy start on settling. Gradually making ground in the final circuit, Lunchwitharthur raced to the front on straightening and despite the effort telling as the winning post loomed, held on to gain the day by a head from Sassy Pants from a mile back, with Drop The Hammer third after always being handy. The mile rate 2-00.6

27th April: Machiatto a horse Carol Bass has an interest in was successful at Perth’s Gloucester Park, taking the M0 class Westral VeriShade Curtains Pace over 1730 metres. Trained by Aiden Warwick and driven by Aldo Cortopassi, Machiatto led throughout from gate two, returning a mile rate of 1-53.7 to defeat Touch Of Success by 3.4 metres, with Tuas Delight third 2.4 metres away.
